Matt Becker, Principal

Matt Becker is the founder and principal of Timberland Construction, Inc. Matt studied architecture at Lawrence Institute of Technology in Southfield, Michigan. Immediately thereafter he put that experience to good use, spending the next few years working with a home renovation company. During that time, developed a specialty in fine finish carpentry, and eventually became so enthralled with high quality of work that he launched Timberland Construction, Inc.

At this writing, Timberland has been steadily serving discerning clients for over 15 years and climbing.

"The greatest thing about this business is the chance to use all of my carpentry, planning and business abilities to serve my clients," he says. "Working for a larger firm often forces you to specialize in one area. With my own company, I have been able to develop both the depth and breadth of skills in the many disciplines required for home and small business design/build renovation work."

Our Design-Build Philosophy

Our Design-Build Philosophy

Many clients come to us with an idea of what they want, unsure of whether the dream will fit within the budget. Our first job is to gather an understanding of your dream. Following that, our experts will personally meet with you to discuss your options and provide a detailed cost estimate and general timeline for the project.

Planning provides a detailed project description along with explicit specifications and a complete set of building plans. Our plans often include detailed drawings or photos of the exact finishes to be used, which are included in the specifications. Because no two projects are the same, we believe your project deserves individual design and planning. In the end, you'll be happy with the investment you've made in your home and we'll be proud of our craftsmanship.

Planning and designing your project is the most important phase. Careful planning will save you time, money and frustration. During planning we decide on the big picture. What will your home look like when we're doing? What do you hope to achieve? What is the budget and timeline? Finally, what are the finishing details that will give your home a polished look?

Designing a project doesn't end with the complete set of working drawings. Once the project is drawn up, the next step involves selecting materials, deciding on construction techniques, and scheduling our specialists. Along the way, our experts are in regular contact with you to answer questions and provide guidance. We want you to make informed decisions along the way.

A strong focus on planning streamlines the building process. The project team members are more efficient because they have contributed to the plan with their specialized expertise. Once the planning phase is complete, it's time to get to work and turn your vision into reality.
