This entertainment-quality home in the Fenton area includes a large kitchen with an adjoining indoor pool and patio area. The homeowner wanted to reflect their love of the outdoors with warm wood tones, and also provide a way to entertain poolside without tracking water into the kitchen area. This project started where the rough carpentry ended, delivering custom kitchen cabinets that surround and envelop The first photo to the left looks out through the closed glass pocket windows to the pool. Peeking just over the edge of the counter through the window is the stone wall that gives this project its name. Timberland built the wall along the far edge of the pool, providing privacy, atmosphere, and an elegant place for poolside conversation.
Continue on to see additional photographs of the kitchen remodeling project with its custom granite island, enclosed pantry with appliance garage, and the custom cabinetry with integrated range hood.
Note the corner sink to the right of the window, and the two narrow-channel faucets on the island. All the cabinets are custom, and these kitchen counter tops are real granite.
Here is the large stove, warmly wrapped in custom cabinetry – the range hood is invisible, constructed as it is directly into the overall architecture of the wall unit. The back splash is textured stone, blending nicely with the continued granite counter top; notice how it continues to the left, providing continuity. The mantel-style supports are an integrated theme used throughout the kitchen and pool, both on the island and the pool side of the window.
This view is from the pool window, looking at the cavernous refrigerator – although the photograph doesn’t reflect it, the tonality of the cabinets matches the rest of the kitchen. You can also see the mantel-pieces supporting the island corners.
The pantry, currently closed. Those are sliding pocket doors that become functionally invisible when open, opening up the space for easy access to preparation and other items.
Here the pantry is open, and the closed appliance garage can be seen nestled into its own corner. The cabinet themes and warm marble counter are contined into the pantry.
A wider-angle view of the main kitchen space, showing the spacious counter tops and storage of the cabinets and kitchen island. The darker island style was selected specifically, and contrasts well with the lighter surrounding wood tones. It also highlights the gold sparkles in that counter top! (Truly, a photo doesn’t do it justice.)
This is the ‘bar’ side in the pool. Note the continuity of the marble counter top and repeated support theme. The woodwork is heavier here, reflecting the more outdoor feel of the pool enclosure. As a final note, the flagstone of the patio is carried up vertically as base moulding around the enclosure, both attractive and resistant to the inevitable dousing it will receive.
